Tomorrow's Company is recruiting for a strategic, dynamic and highly effective Director of Finance. The successful candidate will play an important role in shaping Tomorrow's Company new sustainable business model.

Tomorrow's company is looking for a qualified accountant with the drive and impact to ensure robust systems, excellent information, helping to build a confident and effective management team, and a rigorous and calm team culture. 

Purpose of the role:
This is a newly created role key critical to the future development and growth of Tomorrow's Company.  The organisation creates and delivers value through its programmes, events, research, content and relationships and now needs to take this into new business models that generate increased and sustainable revenue streams. 

A core element of the role requires strong hands-on Finance skills, to build a fit for purpose finance capability for the organisation, overseeing and providing leadership for delivering accurate and timely reporting and analysis. 

However, the successful candidate will also be able to operate strategically, with the skill and experience to lead the organisation into defining and utilising new business models, and developing a more commercial and business focused approach.  The Director of Finance will also look for opportunities to develop new products and services arising from Tomorrow's Company's thought leadership. 

As part of the role, the successful candidate will oversee people, risk and associated resources issues, and drive operational performance across the organisation.  By doing so the Director of Finance will be providing high-level leadership and help steer the culture and performance of the organisation.

Externally, the role requires to have the relationship skills and personality to represent the influence and impact of Tomorrow's Company work and the value it creates to potential funders, including individuals, new and existing corporate partners, trusts and foundations.

The ideal candidate:

  • Genuine enthusiasm for, and support of, the aims and objectives of Tomorrow's Company
  • Qualified accountant, with degree level education or equivalent
  • Significant financial, operational, and project and systems management experience, gained within high performance organisation
  • Ability to act at senior and strategic level on the big issues for Tomorrow's Company - but pragmatic enough to deliver within the constraints of a relatively small organisation with limited support
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, mentoring and people management/development skills
  •  

The role can be carried out between 3-5 days per week, subjection to discussion with the candidate. FTE hours are 37.5 a week. Salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate depending on skills, experience and the ability to carry out all the elements of the role. An indicative range is £60-85k FTE.
