GFCI 20.5 Figures Released

Xueyi Jiang Wednesday, 18 January 2017 17:23

We are pleased to announce the release of the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI) 20.5 interim figures.

The GFCI is published in full each March and September, with interim figures released in advance to give an indication of where centres are heading in the rankings. The latest full report - GFCI 20 - was published in September 2016.

GFCI 20.5 indicates:

London and New York are now joint leaders on 794. London was marginally ahead of New York in GFCI 19 but London fell by one point (the only centre to fall in the top 12). Singapore – 3rd, Hong Kong 4th and Tokyo 5th remain in their respective places;

43 financial centres see their ranks go up with Tallinn, Riyadh and Los Angeles showing significant rises;

38 financial centres see their ranks decline with the British Virgin Islands and Dalian both suffering significant falls;

6 financial centres see no change in ranking compared to GFCI 20.

It should be noted that the interim updates of the GFCI are based on a smaller number of online assessments than the main updates of the GFCI and thus generally show smaller changes in ratings and rankings. Please participate in the GFCI research by completing our online questionnaire.

GFCI 21 is due for publication in March 2017. For more details please see the Global Financial Centres Index home page .
