The Missing Links In The Chains? Mutual Distributed Ledger (aka blockchain) Standards

Date and Time:

Thursday, 08:30-10.30, 17 November 2016

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new Long Finance report, sponsored by the States of Alderney, PWC and the Cardano Foundation.

Mutual distributed ledger (MDL, aka blockchain) technology has captured a great deal of attention.  As with any new technology, MDLs expose organisations to new risks.  Regulators have responsibility for protecting consumers and overseeing the integrity of markets and they respond to risks in two main ways; through the development of specific regulations, or by encouraging the establishment of voluntary standards markets.

This research, developed through consultation with over 70 practitioners from the regulatory, developer, legal, and financial services sectors, examines the potential risks associated with MDLs, explores how they could fit within existing regulatory frameworks, and suggests where and how standards might be usefully applied.
